About us

Two local carers, one simple idea

Kersami Care is a partnership between Kerry and Sami. We're building the kind of service we'd want for our own families.

Our story

Why we're starting Kersami Care

Kerry and Sami worked side by side for years at a larger care provider, supporting adults with learning disabilities and additional needs. We loved the work. But we saw how much people value seeing the same faces, having time that isn't rushed, and being treated as a person rather than a visit on a list.

So we decided to start our own service. It will stay small on purpose. We'll support no more than eight people, always one-to-one, here on the coast where we live.

The name Kersami simply joins our two names together: Kerry and Sami. It's a reminder that you'll always know exactly who is supporting you.

What we're here to do

Our mission

"To deliver high-quality, person-centred care that empowers people to keep their independence, dignity and quality of life, in the comfort and security of their own homes."

Dignity

Treating you with respect in your own home, every single visit.

Empathy and understanding

Taking time to listen and understand what life is like for you.

Independence

Helping you do things yourself, not doing everything for you.

Choice

You decide how, when and where you're supported.

Consistency of care

The same familiar faces: Kerry and Sami, not a rota of strangers.

Meet the team

Kerry and Sami

Between us, we have decades of experience supporting adults in care homes, in supported settings and in people's own homes.

Kerry

Co-founder: care, client meetings and quality

Kerry has spent a whole career helping people live well. Most recently, Kerry was a Registered Manager for four years with a larger care provider, leading support for 84 adults with learning disabilities. That experience of running a service well, and getting the details right, is at the heart of Kersami Care.

Experience
Registered Manager (4 years), Deputy Manager (2 years) and Care Support Worker (2 years) with a larger provider. Earlier experience includes supporting older people in a care home and working with children in nursery and school settings.
Qualifications
Diploma in Health and Social Care, Level 3 and Level 5. Level 5 in management.

Sami

Co-founder: care, client meetings and quality

Sami has around twenty years of hands-on care experience, including six years supporting people in their own homes. Day-to-day, practical support is what Sami knows best: helping people with their routines, getting out and about, and trying new things at their own pace.

Experience
Senior Care Support Worker (4 years) supporting 84 adults with additional needs, and Care Support Worker (10 years) with the same provider. Before that, six years with a large company delivering care at home.
Qualifications
Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care. Level 4 in management. Planning to begin a Level 5 qualification.

Our approach

How we work with you

  • You lead. Your support is planned around what matters to you, not around our timetable.
  • We do things with you, not for you. The aim is always more confidence and more independence.
  • Clear boundaries. We agree in writing what we will and won't do, so everyone knows where they stand.
  • We keep checking in. We review your plan and risk assessments at least once a year, or sooner if things change.
  • We listen to feedback. We'll ask you and your family how we're doing, and use what you tell us to improve.

Small on purpose

Staying small means we can offer something larger organisations often find hard: the same people, every time, with time to talk.

When you call, you'll speak to Kerry or Sami. When someone arrives at your door, it will be Kerry or Sami.
